Laptop Repair

Common Issues:

Liquid Spill damage

Device spill damage is serious because it corrodes sensitive electronic components, but it’s not unfixable.

As soon as you get liquid in your device you should stop using it! Turning it on will just make it worse as this allows electricity to flow through shorted wet components causing it to look like the board in the picture. Even when the damage is this extensive we can repair it, but it is best to minimize damage so we have a higher likelihood of fixing your board in a reasonable timeframe.

Keys or trackpad not working

You try to click and it doesn’t register a click. Maybe the cursor doesn’t move the way you want it to. This is a very common problem as the trackpad on your laptop sees more wear & tear than most other parts of your laptop. It is also at the front of the machine, so it is usually the first casualty of a liquid spill. A spilled drink goes right into the trackpad. Most trackpad malfunctions are from high humidity or liquid damage.

Not turning on

What’s the cause?

There could be a number of causes for your device not turning on:

  • The charging port is broken and not sending power.
  • The power button is stuck on, and preventing your device from booting up.
  • The trackpad is connected to the System Management Controller (SMC) that controls the circuits that power your device. A damaged trackpad could affect the SMC and prevent your device from powering on.
  • Circuts inside the logic board get damaged, and will not send power to the right components.
  • Damaged ports on a device can short components.
  • Liquid spilled on your laptop can cause corrosion, shorting, and prevents boot up of your device.

We provide a free estimate with regards to these causes.

Running slow

What’s the cause?

There could be a number of causes for why device might be running slowly:

  • There is insufficient RAM in the system
  • The device is still utilising a HDD instead of a SSD resulting in slower boot-up times
  • Software updates/usages is eating up the system’s resources
  • Viruses and malware are draining the system of its resources
  • The device is overheating causing the system to thermally throttle which slows it down

We can resolve these issues by upgrading or cleaning out your device.
